Weight Gain Supplements

For most people, weight gain is the last thing on their ‘to do’ list. But for those who are more active, increasing the muscle to body fat ratio can give them a competitive edge for sports that require power, speed and even size. For combat training, bodybuilding and triathlon regimes, supplementing a carefully co-ordinated diet and exercise routine with an effective weight gain supplement or muscle gain supplement can be beneficial.

How much weight gain you can expect depends on a number of factors including previous resistance-training experience, genetics, body mass, gender, diet, training programme and motivation. Young male body builders between the ages of 18-25 often achieve increases of up to 20% during the first year of heavy resistance training, although this will reduce to around 1-3% per year after the first initial increase.

It is impossible to experience weight gain of this order without substantially increasing your dietary intake. Building muscle requires a tough resistance programme and a high-carbohydrate diet allows for the greatest recovery of muscle glycogen on a daily basis, allowing you to work hard on successive days.

It has also been shown that athletes who are exercising hard on a regular basis need to eat up to twice as much protein per pound of body mass as those who do little or no regular exercise. Specific supplements that are high in protein such as easily digested whey protein products can increase the amount of protein being absorbed by the body without a significantly high increase in calorie intake. At Nutritional Supplements, we supply tried and tested high protein and high carbohydrate weight gain supplements specifically designed to increase both weight and muscle mass.
